ZAFRULLAH KHAN MALIK MEMORIAL CRICKET TOURNAMENT

PLAYING FOR PEACE SINCE 2012

Named to honor (late) Nasra Wazir Ali’s husband, (late) Malik Wazir Ali, our annual, inter-school table tennis competition began in 1993 and saw an exponential growth in popularity and participation.  For the last 26 years, ETNS has proudly and successfully hosted what is by far the largest table tennis tournament of any schools in Karachi. Attracting the participation of over 40 schools, nearly 90 teams and 400 students (including 200 girls), this three-day event is held at Islamia Club and commands the attention of thousands of avid spectators along with media presence.  (Please see our Media page for details of TV and press coverage of our most recent Wazir Ali Table Tennis Tournament, in Jan 2019.)

Each thrilling final of the Zafrullah Khan Malik Cricket Tournament is graced by the presence of a Chief Guest of Honor. We have been supremely blessed to have had the following esteemed personalities serving as our honored guests on these occasions, awarding trophies to the champions and various prizes to the best performing players: Mr. Zaka Ashraf (Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board); Wasim Akram (former Pakistani cricketer, cricket commentator and television personality); Fawad Alam (Pakistani cricketer);  Mr. Ejaz Ahmed Farooqui (President of KCCA); Mr. Jalal-ud-din (former Pakistani cricketer) and Muhammad Zaka Ashraf (president of the Zarai Taraqiati Bank Limited & Ex Chairman of PCB).

In the near future, we expect to open up our cricket tournament to other schools in the city of Karachi, transcending from an inter-house to inter-school level competition, all the while spreading our motto- a message which is the very essence of our founder’s philosophy: Play for Peace.

NASRA HALL OF FAME SPOTLIGHT: WASIM BARI

A critically acclaimed athlete who served as wicket-keeper and right-handed batsman on Pakistan's cricket team from 1967 to 1984, Wasim is regarded as one of the most capped players in Pakistani Test History. After being conferred with a Lifetime Achievement Award by Pakistan Cricket Board, Wasim proceeded to serve as PCB's chief operating officer. Though retired from the sport, he regularly attends our Zafrullah Khan Malik Memorial Cricket Tournament and other school events, delighting students and faculty alike.
