The Education Trust is delighted to welcome Mr. Salim Raza as the new Chairperson to the Board. With over 40 years of extensive experience in the banking and financial sector, Mr. Raza brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise. He has held the esteemed position of the 15th Governor of
the State Bank of Pakistan, following a distinguished career in international banking.
Mr. Raza’s business acumen encompasses credit and corporate finance, real estate, and global asset management. As the former CEO of the Pakistan Business Council (PBC), he spearheaded numerous innovative initiatives to deepen debt capital markets, broaden financial inclusion, enhance credit access for the agricultural and SME sectors, and reform the banking sector for greater efficiency and economic empowerment. His contributions were further recognized when he was appointed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan’s Economic Advisory Council in September 2018.
Having held various significant positions at Citibank NA both in Pakistan and abroad, Mr. Raza currently
serves on the Boards of Karandaaz Pakistan, Manzil Pakistan, Indus Earth Trust, Habib University, and
the Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust. He is also an adjunct professor at the Institute of Business
Administration (IBA), Karachi, specializing in Political Economy.

Entrepreneur, educationist and philanthropist, Amir draws upon his experience of 25 years in working for and establishing successful business ventures in the Middle East and Pakistan. He is an Oxford Business Alumni – having completed the Oxford University Social Finance, Impact Investing and Impact Measurement Programs at Said Business School. He is a SECP Certified Director having completed the Director Training program by Pakistan Institute for Corporate Governance.
His vision is simple – to continue and further build the dual legacy established by his grandparents – his late paternal grandfather, Amir Ali Fancy, patriarch of the Fancy family as well as from his late maternal grandmother, Nasra WazirAli. An entrepreneurial spirit inherited from both sides of his lineage gives him a unique advantage and a deep personal insight towards building organizations and institutions with a core focus to lead for the future. Amir is the founder/CEO of Nasra Public School, Chemco, Fancy Industrial Management Services, and has led the growth, development and execution of their long-term strategies and continues to be responsible for delivering on future expansion in the region.
As Chairman of the Fancy Foundation (est. 1960), he promoted and supported educational and health
initiatives for the deserving and needy in Pakistan having established a first of its kind endowment for
higher secondary education scholarships with the Aga Khan University Foundation. He continues to
remain involved and support these initiatives for deserving students from Karachi to Gilgit-Baltistan &
Chitral in the north of Pakistan.
A member of the Rotary Club of Pakistan Sunset Millennium, Amir served as President in 2009-10. He
was recognized with the Best PresidentAward for Pakistan & his club voted the Best Club in Pakistan for
their valuable contribution through innovative community outreach programs. He is a Paul Harris Fellow
in Rotary International.
He is a founding member of YPO Capital Pakistan Chapter and a member of YPO Gold Pakistan.
Amir is passionate about creating social impact with a quest to grow, earn, learn and give back. His
various personal commitments to actively serving on several boards is a testimony of his personal
mandate.

As the first student ofNasra School in 1949, subsequently in later life as a Trustee, she has maintained a life-long commitment to the Trust Schools which strive to provide quality education for all. Shahnaz Wazir Ali has an illustrious career as an educationist, development policy specialist, a member of the Pakistan People’s Party twice elected to National Assembly of Pakistan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Sector and as a well-known women’s right activist. She served as a Senior Education Specialist with the World Bank; held the position of Minister of State for Education, Govt. of Pakistan; serves on the Boards of a number of prestigious national and international organizations, trusts and advisory councils. She is a member of the national and Sindh Higher Education Commissions and is on the polio and family planning task forces of the Government of Sindh. She has served as a member of the Executive Board of UNESCO representing Pakistan, for three terms. She is currently the Vice Chairperson of Social Policy Development Centre.
Shahnaz Wazir Ali has represented Pakistan at international conferences and is a highly valued speaker
for National seminars, forums, conferences on education, health, women development, population, and
poverty alleviation. She has been a champion of numerous social causes such as education for all,
women’s rights, family planning and Polio eradication in Pakistan.
Currently she is the President of SZABIST University with campuses in Pakistan and Dubai. She is the
Honorary Provincial Coordinator for the Government of Sindh for all primary health care programs
including maternal and child health and Family Planning Programs. These two positions reflect her deep,
abiding and long-term commitment to Health & Education.
As a social activist dedicated to the cause of advancing women’s rights along with human rights in the
early 1980’s, she was in the van guard of the women’s rights movement in Pakistan that fought against
the 11-year long dictatorship of General Zia-ul-Haq.
Ms. Wazir Ali holds a Master’s Degree in Education from the University of Arkansas, USA and also a
certification in Education Administration from Trenton College, New Jersey, USA. In addition, she has a
Principal’s Certification from Harvard University, Cambridge, USA. Her Bachelor’s degree in Mass
Communication is from the American University, Washington, D.C.

Mr. Tahir Ali brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Education Trust Nasra School (ETNS) as a trustee. With a distinguished career spanning over several decades, Mr. Ali has made significant contributions to various fields, including humanitarian diplomacy, refugee protection, and emergency aid
operations. He has served in senior-level positions at the United Nations and advised multilateral humanitarian and development agencies, offering strategic guidance and direction in complex crisis situations across the globe.
Mr. Ali’s professional journey began with a strong academic foundation, earning him degrees in social anthropology from prestigious institutions in the United States. Prior to his UN career, he engaged in teaching and research, demonstrating a commitment to academic excellence and social
development. Throughout his tenure at the UN, Mr. Ali directed aid operations in conflict and post conflict environments, advocating for the rights and well-being of vulnerable populations.
In addition to his humanitarian endeavors, Mr. Ali has been actively involved in various professional
bodies and associations aimed at improving healthcare services and promoting consumer rights and
awareness in Pakistan. He has received numerous awards and accolades for his contributions to
management, healthcare, sports, entrepreneurship, and corporate social responsibility, reflecting his
diverse and impactful career.
Mr.Ali’s dedication extends beyond professional pursuits, as evidenced by his involvementin community
service initiatives, including vocational training for the intellectually disabled and supporting terminally
ill children through the Make a Wish Foundation. A passionate sports enthusiast, Mr. Ali has played a
pivotal role in promoting sports activities and fostering talent development across multiple disciplines.
As an ETNS trustee, Mr. Tahir Ali brings a unique blend of expertise, compassion, and leadership,
furthering the school’s mission of providing quality education and empowering future generations. His
commitment to social justice, education, and community welfare aligns seamlessly with the values and
objectives of ETNS.

Aliya Iqbal Naqvi is a historian by training, committed to the development of education in Pakistan. She is currently Faculty of History and Coordinator of student research at the Department of Social Sciences & Liberal Arts at The Institute of Business Administration, Karachi. She previously headed the Liberal Arts Program at the Indus Valley School of Art & Architecture.
Ms. Iqbal-Naqvi holds a BA and two MA degrees from Harvard University in the US, and is in the process of completing her Ph.D. from the same institution. At Harvard, Ms. Iqbal-Naqvi undertook several pedagogical trainings, taught extensively at Harvard College, and won several awards for “Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching.” She has experience as a television anchor, and continues to freelance as host/moderator at conferences and other live events.
Ms. Iqbal-Naqvi also serves on the boards of various social development organisations, such as The
Karachi Foundation and Greenstar Social Marketing, Pakistan. She has been a trustee of ETNS since
2012.

Prof. Dr. Farhan Essa Abdullah is a Clinical Microbiologist and the Managing Director and CEO of Dr Essa Laboratories and Diagnostic Center, one of the largest Medical Diagnostic chains in Sindh with an ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management Certification.
He holds an MBBS degree (Gold Medalist), MPhil and a Ph.D. and has received the “Top 100 CEOs of Pakistan Award” multiple times including many other awards for Management, Health, Sports, Entrepreneurship, Environment, Fire & Safety, Education & Corporate Social Responsibility.
He has served as Assistant Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Dow University of Health Sciences, where he was also a member of the Research Advisory Committee. He has been involved in various professional bodies that work towards improving the health care services in Pakistan serving as
Chairman of the National Standing Committee of Hospital, Clinics, and Laboratories of FPCCI
(Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industries of Pakistan).

awareness and is a life time member at PILAP – Public Interest Law Association of Pakistan. He is also
the Joint Secretary of the Karachi Vocational and Training Centre for the intellectually disabled
transforming them into able contributors in the community. A Board member of the “Make a Wish
Foundation” for terminally ill children.
He is a sports enthusiast and has been Involved in the promotion of sports specially table tennis, tennis,
swimming, basketball, hockey, bridge, darts, polo, horse races, fencing, sepaktakraw, golf, soft tennis
and rugby. CurrentlyVice President of Sindh Soft ball Association, he has also served as the Chairman of
Karachi Table Tennis Association and is currently a Member of the Advisory Panel to President Pakistan
Table Tennis Federation.

Saba Bilal Malik is a graduate of Lahore School of Management Sciences (LUMS) with majors in Accounting and Finance having experience in the field of external auditing with one of the big four audit firms. Additionally, she has been part of a leading mobile technological solution provider based in Middle Eastern region where her financial skills were used towards business development of the organization.
Currently based in UAE – Dubai, she is working as an educationist with an expertise in the area of Special Educational Needs (SEND) and employed with Kings School Dubai, one of the leading and prestigious educational institutes. She has acquired special qualification in this area which includes Level 2 certification from NCFE CACHE and a diploma in Autism Awareness by New School Skills Academy – UK. These qualifications have helped her integrate behavioral and coping strategies in academic planning.
She strongly believes that through the right support and intervention, any child can achieve learning goals, achieve educational success and realize their true potential. She aims to offer her experience with
SEND to aid and enable an even more fulfilling learning experience. Learning should be in a flourishing
environment and emotional well-being of the students hold a key priority in the attainment of education.
Ms Malik is keen to carry on the legacy of her grandfather Malik Zafar Ullah Khan (late), the founding
Chairman of the Education Trust and shares his vision of “education for all.

With a wealth of experience in process management and operations, Syed Nayab H. Shah has been engaged with educational institutions at senior management levels for more than a decade. Holding a Master’s degree in Business Administration, he brings over 20 years of expertise across multinational and not-for-profit organizations in both the UAE and Pakistan. During his time with The Citizens Foundation (TCF) as Regional Manager – North West Region, he successfully oversaw more than 160 schools across Punjab, KPK, and AJK regions.
At Nasra School System, he played a pivotal role as General Manager Operations, transforming
the organization into a process- and system-driven entity. As COO of Nasra Public School (NPS)
until October 2022, he focused on strengthening the schools by improving learning
environments, integrating technology, and enhancing facilities.
While serving as CEO, he provided strategic leadership, driving policy decisions, financial
oversight, and team development to advance the organization’s mission. He also actively
supported the Board of Directors by contributing insights and guidance to shape the institution’s
overall direction.
